2002 User Group Meeting
Highlights of the 2002 Amgraf User Group Meeting
Feb 20-22, 2002
Las Vegas, NV
The Convention Center at the Golden Nugget was the perfect venue, and Amgraf had meeting rooms arranged for the event. The breakfasts, coffee breaks, lunches, and receptions held each day allowed the attendees to network with their peers in the industry and to meet face-to-face with the ten Amgraf staff members who were present.
The meeting started with a gala reception Wednesday evening as the students who arrived early for the optional classes were able to unwind with the attendees and Amgraf's staff.
Presentations and demonstrations began in earnest on Thursday morning, with Amgraf Executive VP Ray Killam acting as the Master of Ceremonies. Franklin Garner, Amgraf's President and CEO gave an overview of Amgraf's strategic direction, and other speakers described the latest products and services available from Amgraf. New training programs were announced, along with a new software maintenance agreement. Example systems and solutions were shown so that everyone could see the benefits.
Altogether there were nine general presentations and twelve breakout sessions. Topics included Streamline Automated Digital Printing by James Tiensvold and Manish Kapoor, MECCA 2000 Security Document Features by Raymond Garner, OneForm's Stationery Option by Debra Poll, Importing and Exporting PDF Files by Robert Kisel, and Databases for E-forms and I-forms by James Tiensvold.
Manish Kapoor of NEBS made a great presentation about the reasons for NEBS selection of MECCA 2000, and the productivity advantages achieved since the systems were installed at five locations.
The Webex online meeting software was demonstrated by Debra Poll, and its uses for training and customer support were discussed.
On Friday afternoon, attendees had a chance to suggest changes and improvements to Amgraf's software developers. Over 40 suggestions were submitted, and the developers will be responding soon with a list of enhancements that will be completed within the next few months.
The highlight of the meeting was saved until the end. Amgraf held a drawing for the "World's Fastest MECCA 2000 System" and all attendees still present were eligible. The lucky winner was Anna Lovell of Moore North America. Congratulations to Anna!
The meeting was adjourned Friday afternoon with the preliminary decision to have next year's meeting in New Orleans.
