Release notes for MECCA 2000 version 5.10. May/06/2011 -- Due to the broad impact of large bitmap support, this update brings MECCA 2000 to version 5.10 (the last official release was version 5.06). Fixed: 1. Importing a back & white (or so-called "line art") bitmap in PBM format had the image reversed (ppmtoix). 2. EPS Preview did not track layer changes applied to the combined EPS (m2kbin). 3. The "2nd Indent" value set in Text Attributes was ignored (m2kbin). 4. After a "Trim blank frame" operation, raster image's dimensions were not properly updated to the overall drawing dimensions, resulting in "Window Fit" appearing to retain the old dimensions (m2kbin). 5. Corrected a condition where PS Forms are used in batch/printing: the graphic properties (font, size, line weight etc.) are now cleared when a form's definition ends, as they do not persist afterward in the RIP (typdrv). 6. Corrected several areas related to TT/OT font files that have incorrect data (otfconv). 7. In producing level-3 compatible radial graduation, the minimum radius value can sometimes become negative, when it should stop at zero (PSgraduate.ps). New/Changed: 1. Raster images having more than 32K columns or rows can now be accomodated (m2kbin, typdrv, imgchres, imgcrop, imggrow, imgmirr, imgrote, imgrotea, imgtrim, bmptoix, pngtoix, ppmtoix, tiff2ix, ixtobmp, ixtopng, frmpos, preview, galeyc, pmugal, pmunu, rasfont, gpcdump, rdpswdth, laserp). The new limit is 2 billion for either the image data size, or pixel count for columns or rows. Please note that such large images may not be operated on (such as rotate) successfully because of their memory size requirement. 2. Added an alternative look-up to "laser.sub" (m2klsubmap, typdrv, mecca.sh). If there is a large set of usable fonts (file "laser.sub" size is large), generating PS (or PDF from it) may be slow because "laser.sub" is loaded for each printing run. This update adds a daemon program that loads "laser.sub" once (and every time the file is updated), each print run then queries font info with this daemon via localhost socket, so batch oriented printing can run smoother. If site admin determines this will be beneficial, then: a. edit /usr/bin/amgraf/mecca_env.tcl uncomment the newly added "# set env(lsubmap_port) 6979" line, and if needed, change 6979 to an unused TCP port number (on localhost); b. run the daemon: /usr/bin/amgraf/m2klsubmap & Note that the above command need be added to the boot-time auto-start script in /usr/local/etc/rc.d to start/stop automatically, please see see /usr/mecca/misc/mecca.sh in this update).
